Clinical picture: When pain prevents you from living life to the fullest
A 25-year-old patient came to us. His story began in childhood with Legg-Calve-Perthes disease (aseptic necrosis of the femoral head). At the time of application, the consequences of the disease turned into severe coxarthrosis:
- Constant, debilitating pain in the hip joint.
- Significant limitation of the amplitude of movements (the patient had difficulty even putting on shoes).
- Gait disturbances and lameness.
Treatment strategy: Why a short shaft?
For young and active patients, we choose technologies that preserve healthy bone tissue as much as possible. It was decided to install cementless endoprosthesis with a short stem (Short Stem).
Why is this important for young patients?
- Bone-sparing tactics: A maximum of one’s own bone is preserved for possible revisions after a decade
